Join us in Bellingham for an exciting Farm Walk as part of our annual Tilth Conference! We will be visiting two farms this year: Steensma Creamery (Lynden, WA) and Sky Island Farm (Everson, WA).

Sky Island Farm

Sky Island Farm is a 20-acre farm operating in Humptulips and Everson, WA. The farm primarily wholesales to food banks, food aid organizations, stores, schools, food hubs, institutions and restaurants, growing a variety of vegetables for wholesale from May through December. Starting in October, the farm also produces wreaths and garlands for the holiday season. Everything is grown using organic, sustainable and regenerative methods, reflecting a deep commitment to caring for the environment.

Steensma Creamery

Steensma Creamery is a fourth-generation family farm committed to regenerative food production in conscious partnership with its animals and land. The farm believes that the closer people are to where their food is grown, the better it is for their bodies, the planet and their palates. In 2021, Steensma Creamery launched the Pacific Northwest’s first local skyr yogurt, handcrafted with milk from its pastured dairy cows. The farm has been operating in Whatcom County since 1946 and proudly achieved organic certification in 2026.

This Farm Walk is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP).

WSU Food Systems Program and Tilth Alliance have been collaboratively organizing Farm Walks since 2004. These farmer-to-farmer educational opportunities are hosted by organic, sustainable, and innovative farm and food businesses throughout Washington State. We aim to highlight our farmer hosts and their unique expertise and experiences. We reach new, beginning, and existing farmers seeking education, advice, and mentorship from these experienced farmers, as well as agricultural and food systems professionals.
