Learn about practical agroforestry strategies for Pacific Northwest farms with Agroforestry Northwest. This session introduces forest farming, alley cropping, silvopasture, and Indigenous agroforestry, highlighting how these approaches can diversify production, strengthen resilience, and support habitat. Participants will leave with regionally relevant examples, learn PNW agroforestry keystone crops, design considerations, and resources to help assess which practices fit their farm, goals, and landscape.

About the Speakers

  • Carrie Brausieck

    Agroforestry Northwest

    Carrie Brausieck is a co-founder and the Executive Director of Agroforestry Northwest. She has worked in Agroforestry for over a decade in the Pacific Northwest and specializes in agroecological systems, multi-functional riparian forest buffers, biocultural restoration, and creative ecology. She is passionate about agroforestry as a solution to competing land use in the PNW and integrating the arts and storytelling into ecological communication to broaden access to ecological information, to help communities imagine solutions to complex ecological issues, and to inspire change. She holds advanced degrees and training in the fields of environmental policy, agroforestry, and environmental anthropology.

  • Jared Busen

    Agroforestry Northwest

    Jared Busen is Agroforestry Northwest’s Agroforester and Ecologist. Jared is a small forest land steward focused on resilient forest management and non-timber forest products. He is passionate about assisting land stewards to find ways to manage their forests for outcomes that increase income other than timber and lead to increased biodiversity and forest health. Jared is experienced in forestry, agroforestry, wetland science, riparian forest restoration, and biocultural restoration. He holds advanced degrees in Environmental Studies, Aeronautics, and Agroforestry.

  • Linzie Crofoot

    Agroforestry Northwest

    Linzie Crofoot is Agroforestry Northwest’s Indigenous Ethnobotanist and Ecologist. Her work centers on restoring relationships between people, plants, and place. Linzie blends Indigenous knowledge with ecological science to support Biocultural Restoration. Her background spans traditional medicine, environmental education, and landscape planning with a focus on revitalizing social and ecological systems disrupted by colonization.
