  • We offer several different topics for field trips and service learning. Browse available topics here.
  • Now accepting requests for Spring 2026 field trips. Our Spring 2026 season runs Tuesday, March 24, 2026 – Friday, June 12, 2026. We do not offer field trips in the winter or summer.
  • Field trips are offered Tuesdays-Fridays at both the Children’s Garden at the Good Shepherd’s Center in Wallingford and at Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands. No Monday field trips available.
  • Field trips are 60-120 minutes long and occur rain or shine — please dress for the weather. If you have multiple classes attending on the same date, each field trip may be shortened slightly to accommodate schedules. Both locations have parks adjacent to them where your class can eat lunch.
  • Once we receive your request, we will reach out to you within two business days to finalize scheduling. We look forward to gardening and learning with you soon!

Group Size & Pricing

Pricing*
We are committed to this program being financially accessible for ALL school age children. Please choose the option that is most appropriate for your program. Note: all field trips have a maximum of 10 chaperones.
Field trips are scheduled and priced by group size, with a maximum group size of 32 students for grades 6th-12th, 30 students for K-5th, and 20 students for Pre-K. If you have more than the maximum group size, please choose the number of students you have per class. Groups will be scheduled and priced accordingly.
No need to fill out 2nd, 3rd, and 4th class size fields if you are bringing less than the maximum group size.
If you would like to bring multiple classes on the same date, please describe how many classes, and preferred timing (AM/PM). We will contact you to follow up about specific timing.
Transportation Assistance*
Thanks to our generous funders, we have limited amounts of partial bus stipends available for the 2025-2026 school year for field trips at Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands. If you are a Title 1 school or need financial assistance with transportation and would like to receive partial stipends for bus transportation, please indicate below.
