FAQ: Camps and After School Programs

Your summer camp and after school programming questions answered!

At Tilth Alliance’s farm and garden youth programs, kids 1-15 years old spend days outdoors being “urban farmers” — discovering where our food comes from and learning about the natural world. Camp is also a time to have fun adventures exploring our gardens and farm, making art, singing song and playing games — all with urban farm flair! Learn more about our youth programming.

After School Programs

After school programming is typically offered for 7-9 weeks in the fall (early October through mid-November) and spring (mid-March through mid-May). Programming typically lasts for 2 hours, and are twice a week at both our Rainier Beach and Wallingford locations.

If you are unable to attend a camp or class, changes and cancellations are available by emailing youthprograms@tilthalliance.org. Please review the cancellation policy outlined below prior to contacting the registration office.

  • Full refunds are available up to three weeks prior to your program’s start date, minus a $50 administrative fee per registration. Transfers to other camps are based on availability, prior to three weeks in advance.
  • Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any refunds or credits for changes or cancellation requests received less than three weeks prior to the start of your program.

Yes, we offer three payment options: reduced price (for those with financial need), regular price, and full price (supports scholarships and reduced price tickets). In addition, we have scholarships available.

We will always run an after school program offered as long as there are at least 3 children enrolled. If there is risk of under enrollment, families will be notified in advance and offered a refund or free transfer to another class.

Given that we are an outdoor-based education program, Tilth Alliance’s Youth and Family Programs staff closely monitor weather and air quality conditions on a regular basis. We will refer to King County Health and Safety Guidelines to determine when a cancellation or movement of a program indoors is necessary and contact families.

While we run our programming rain or shine, we may cancel or move a program indoors when: the heat index is approaching or exceeding 100 degrees, air quality is listed as “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups,” or in the event of extreme wind, thunderstorms, extreme cold/ice/sleet/snow, or other extreme weather conditions.

No, we are unable to offer school drop off or pick up.

Your 5 year old is welcome to join after school programs if they are in Kindergarten.

We do not currently offer afterschool classes for middle or high school students.
