Lend a hand at a monthly community dinner, or work alongside registered dietitians to support multicultural meal sites throughout the greater Seattle area. These volunteer opportunities are limited and may have special requirements.
Community Kitchen Dinners
Community Kitchen Dinners are opportunities to cook, share, learn and eat together in celebration of the abundance of food and food cultures in Rainier Beach. These farm-to-table events are hosted at Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands, building on community kitchen dinners that took place for many years at the nearby Rainier Beach Community Center.
Volunteers join with staff, community partners, and guest chefs to prepare, cook, or clean up. This month’s Community Kitchen meal is a May Pesto Party on Sunday, May 22, 1-3 p.m. Volunteers should sign up below and also RSVP for the meal.
Multicultural Senior Meal Program
Registered Dietitians with Tilth Alliance support more than 20 multicultural senior meal sites throughout the greater Seattle area, providing culturally relevant food safety and nutrition education to senior meal programs, with a focus on those serving immigrant and refugee seniors. Meal programs provide a place for seniors to be active, eat a nourishing meal and socialize. Volunteer opportunities are limited and may require relevant experience and an additional background check.
Farm to Table Program
The Farm to Table Program provides virtual and in-person classes to help children develop food literacy, learn about soil and plants, explore flavors, and practice cooking. Family engagement events like cook-alongs and pop-up farm stands extend the Farm to Table experience to home. Volunteer opportunities are limited and may require relevant experience and an additional background check.
