Description

What does it mean to be a steward? Every Tuesday for 10 weeks, students will make decisions about and take part in stewardship projects on Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands that benefit the wellbeing of all those who call this place home!

Students will collect and record data through observation, research, community interviews, and more. Using this data and students’ own personal library of knowledge, we will propose, refine, and implement stewardship efforts through the farm. Along the way, we will make tea, share stories, play garden games, and help prepare the garden for spring. Through these experiences, we will develop our reciprocal relationship with the land, learn about plant and animal knowledge, and practice caring for land as the land cares for us.

About Our Youth Programs

Program happens rain or shine. Please dress for the weather and for a hands-on garden/farm day – layers, a hat, and closed toed shoes; rain gear on rainy days. Please apply sunscreen before camp, and send additional sunscreen with your child. Each day, campers bring a water bottle, lunch and two filling snacks to be prepared for an active camp day. (Preschool half-day camps do not include lunch.)

Tilth Alliance strives to educate all children regardless of their financial means. All youth programs include a limited number of reduced price tickets. If a reduced price ticket is still not affordable, we encourage you to apply for a scholarship.
