Preparing Seasonal Soups
Description
Join us for a cozy autumn edition of our “Fresh & Frugal” cooking series, focused on two nourishing and budget-friendly soups that celebrate Pacific Northwest fall produce. We’ll explore how abundant fall crops, such as legumes, root vegetables and squash, can be the backbone of deeply satisfying meals—perfect for batch cooking, freezing, or reinventing into new dishes.
In this hands-on class, we’ll prepare a communal meal using fresh and local ingredients. You’ll learn how to creatively utilize each ingredient in various recipes with a focus on nourishing soups.
We’ll cover:
- Frugal shopping strategies that can stretch your dollar
- How to boost nutrition with seasonal add-ins and garnishes
- Batch cooking tips for freezing, storage, and meal planning
- Flavor-building techniques you can use at home
This dynamic cooking workshop will include hands-on activities, community Q&A, and plenty of cozy fall vibes. The final portion of class will include time to enjoy a meal together. We will do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions, please reach out if you have any questions.
Participants will leave with recipe cards, a sourcing guide and resources for seasonal meal preparation and preservation. No fancy tools or experience needed—just bring your curiosity and an appetite. Cost of class includes materials.
