Description

Multiply your garden! Learn how to create new plants from seeds, cuttings and divisions in this engaging workshop. You will become familiar with the way plants reproduce themselves, and will feel confident in your ability to create a vibrant garden through plant propagation.

At this in-person class, we will learn about:

  • Taking cuttings from shrubs and trees
  • Dividing perennials
  • Propagating plants from layered cuttings
  • Starting seeds, with a focus on seeds that need special techniques to get them to grow

This in-person class will take place outdoors and will include lecture, discussion and hands-on activities. Class size is limited to 15 people, and we will be following current public health recommendations. Please plan to wear a mask and dress for the weather.

About the Instructor

Laura Matter
Laura develops and oversees Tilth Alliance's programs that encompass natural yard care education focused on soil health, resource conservation and pesticide reduction. These include the Garden Hotline, Master Composter/Sustainability Steward programs, our natural yard care classes for northwest cities outside of Seattle, and a culturally relevant plant growing campaign. She is also the primary buyer for plants for the annual Edible Plant Sale and teaches our botany and propagation classes.
