Jr. Counselor: World of Invertebrates

Description
If your teens or preteens love gardening and working with younger children, this is for them! Junior counselors help set up and clean up farm or garden activities, assist camp staff, lead small group activities and learn about organic gardening and farming. It’s all the fun of camp, plus the opportunity to develop leadership skills.
Junior counselors come 30 minutes before campers arrive and stay 30 minutes after campers depart to help set-up and clean-up (built into the times listed). Orientation to camp policies and procedures will be provided. Like campers, junior counselors bring their own snack and lunch.
At This Camp
Let’s zoom in on the underground world that keeps our garden growing! We’ll learn what it’s like to see the world from an invertebrate’s perspective in this science investigation-focused program. Field-based, equity-focused Learning Engagements provided by Learning in Places will guide our sessions as we channel our curiosities into an investigation of life in the dirt. Our program is informed by Learning in Places materials that are aligned with Next Generation Science Standards and emphasize equitable, field-based experiences for children. We actively work to incorporate family and community knowledge into our programming as we learn together in our farm, gardens, and wetlands.
