Jr. Counselor: Plant Power!
Description
If your teens or preteens love gardening and working with younger children, this is for them! Junior counselors help set up and clean up farm or garden activities, assist camp staff, lead small group activities and learn about organic gardening and farming. It’s all the fun of camp, plus the opportunity to develop leadership skills.
Junior counselors come 30 minutes before campers arrive and stay 30 minutes after campers depart to help set-up and clean-up (built into the times listed). Orientation to camp policies and procedures will be provided. Like campers, junior counselors bring their own snack and lunch.
At This Camp
Let’s marvel at the power of plants! Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands is home to an amazing array of plant species, from towering oak trees to wonderful wetland plants to wild edible herbs, and we will spend the week getting to know them through art, cooking, and naturalist activities. Campers will come away from this program with knowledge of several Western Washington plant species and a deeper understanding of the many roles that plants play in our daily lives.
