Jr. Counselor: Kindness in the Garden
Description
If your teens or preteens love gardening and working with younger children, this is for them! Junior counselors help set up and clean up farm or garden activities, assist camp staff, lead small group activities and learn about organic gardening and farming. It’s all the fun of camp, plus the opportunity to develop leadership skills.
Junior counselors come 30 minutes before campers arrive and stay 30 minutes after campers depart to help set-up and clean-up (built into the times listed). Orientation to camp policies and procedures will be provided. Like campers, junior counselors bring their own snack and lunch.
At This Camp
Summer is in full bloom in our garden, and we can’t wait to explore it with you! During this half-day, week-long program, we will learn about different ways we can have relationships with the garden. First, we will learn about what plants need to survive and how to nurture a garden. Later in the week, we will discover the magic of harvesting. Using garden fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers, we will cook delicious meals, brew refreshing tea, and make art.
