Description

Are you interested in building a chicken coop? Would you like to workshop your ideas and design with other chicken enthusiasts? Join us for an urban coop design workshop with Jake Harris, Chicken Ambassador and Owner of Stone Soup Gardens!

In this class, we will explore:

  • different types of coop styles and how they are maintained
  • pros and cons of coop locations
  • tips on coop construction for chicken health and to keep out predators and pests
  • material choices to match your abilities and goals
  • local covenants and restrictions around urban livestock and how to plan around them

This in-person class will take place indoors and include a conversational presentation, show & tell, and time for questions and answers with the instructor. Class size is limited to about 15 people, and we will be following current public health recommendations.

Please note that the second half of this workshop will include group activities to refine your actual or theoretical coop design with the guidance of our instructor. If you would like to workshop your own design for your home coop, you are welcome to bring pictures or designs to class.
