Description

Are you interested in having chickens of your own? Or do you just love these sweet, cuddly creatures? Join us for an introductory workshop with Jake Harris, Chicken Ambassador and Owner of Stone Soup Gardens! In this session, Jake will share all of the basics around keeping chickens in the city. Discover the joys of chickens!

In this class, we’ll explore:

  • The Chicken or the Egg? We will cover the life cycle of chickens, and what to consider if you decide to hatch eggs, raise chicks or adopt a full grown chicken.
  • Beyond the Eggs Benefit: Chickens are more than just egg droppers. We will discuss how they make ideal pets, and how they can build soil, resilience and community.
  • Keeping on the Sunny Side: We will discuss chicken behavior and how to nurture healthy relationships with and within your flock.
  • Where the Flock Should They Go? We will go over easy ideas for location and building your coop.

This in-person class will take place indoors and will include conversational presentation, show & tell, and time for questions and answers with the instructor. Class size is limited to about 15 people, and we will be following current public health recommendations.
