Did you know our urban farm is also home to a wetland? Join us as we discover how the wetlands and farm work together to create a fertile growing space for both edible and non-edible plants and a sanctuary for wildlife.
Together we will:
- Learn more about the wetlands and the role that it plays in the overall farm ecosystem
- Build our naturalist skills by using our senses to identify the different plant and animal friends living in the local ecosystem
- Collaborate with fellow campers on stewardship projects, like building insect homes and planting native plants.
- Explore the world beneath our feet, taking a closer look at compost and the soil ecosystem
- At the end of the week, campers will have a chance to become Tilth W.I.L.D (Wildlife Invertebrate Land Discovery) certified
Please be aware that some activities during this camp will include seeds and nuts.
At Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands, we group by age (generally 6-8 and 9-11); however, this varies due to registration numbers and staff to camper ratios. We do our best to honor grouping requests for friends and siblings but cannot guarantee all requests.
