Are you interested in land care solutions that can be applied in urban areas for soil fertility, water conservation and climate change mitigation? Join us for an introduction to the basics of permaculture design and regenerative systems!

This 4-hour introduction to permaculture will include an interactive lecture, a garden tour, and group activities. You’ll leave with an understanding of “permaculture principles” and how to apply them to support a more holistic and sustainable garden.

Topics discussed in this class include:

  • What is permaculture design?
  • Practical applications for permaculture ethics and principles
  • Ways to integrate natural patterns and ecology into living systems
  • Techniques that can be applied in an urban environment

Activities in this class include:

  • Tour of garden to observe permaculture design efforts in an urban community garden
  • Design and mapping practice
  • Discussion to explore how to steward efficient and abundant landscapes that integrate human needs with the natural ecosystem

This in-person workshop will take place on Saturday, June 6th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and will include a half-hour break for lunch. Class will include a conversational lecture, and participants will leave with a set of comprehensive resources for continued learning. Class size is limited to about 15 participants, and we will be following current public health recommendations.
