Growing Nut Trees in the Pacific Northwest
Description
Did you know that we can grow our own oils, starches, and protein – on trees? This workshop will make the case for nut trees as a cornerstone of resilient food systems. Nut trees can improve soil health, sequester carbon, reduce or eliminate tillage, and provide nutritious, calorie-dense food.
This class will provide an introduction to nut trees and how to grow them. Learn about:
- How nut trees can support resilience in the face of climate instability
- What species grow best in this region
- Suggestions for getting your nut trees off to a good start
This online class will feature a live, interactive lecture with slide show, with time for questions and answers with the instructor. A detailed outline with recommended resources will also be provided. We will be using Zoom for this class, which you can use on your computer or phone.
