SUMMARY:Grow a Farm Stand
DESCRIPTION:Let’s discover what makes local farms and markets so special! In this weeklong camp\, campers will get to try their hand at creating and operating their very own farm stand. \nWe will: \n\nHarvest summer produce from the Children’s Garden for the farm stand\nMeet and interview the staff behind the Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands farm stand and learn about the important decisions that make a successful market\nUse gardening skills as we tend growing spaces and save seeds from the garden\nWork together in small groups to create products for the farmstand\, including handmade art\, nature crafts\, and tasty garden snacks\nPractice marketing\, design\, and entrepreneurship skills\n\nAt the end of the week\, families and friends are invited to “shop” and experience the youth farm stand. \nGrow a Farm Stand camp is a smaller group size and has an additional cost for supplies. This camp includes some farm stand-related cooking and crafting. Dietary considerations and food allergies must be communicated in advance. Please be aware that our kitchen is a shared facility that uses nuts and other allergens. \nAt Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands\, we group by age (generally 6-8 and 9-11); however\, this varies due to registration numbers and staff to camper ratios. We do our best to honor grouping requests for friends and siblings but cannot guarantee all requests.
