Grow a Farm Stand
Description
If you’ve been to a farmer’s market before, you’ll know the feeling you get when you’re there. The abundance of the land on full display is a wonder to witness. In this camp, we will learn about what makes our local urban farming community so special. Students will meet the staff behind the Farm Stand at Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands and learn about the work that goes into making it accessible to the community. Throughout the week, we will tend to our children’s garden, practice ethical decision-making, engage in collaborative projects, and taste fresh foods on the farm. We will work together to create our own youth farm stand. At the end of the week, families and friends are invited to “shop” and experience the youth farm stand. Together, we will connect over a shared love of the land and how it provides for us.
Note: Cooking camps are a smaller group size and have an additional cost for supplies.
