Did you know that Western Washington’s Hardiness Zone was changed in 2023 to account for an average increase in winter temperatures of 5 degrees F? Climate weirding is challenging gardeners to think differently about how we garden and what we grow. In this class you will learn how to utilize organic gardening practices to positively impact your soil health and build climate resilience – all while growing a bountiful edible garden of vegetables and fruit!
During this two-hour session, we will discuss:
- How changing weather patterns can impact the garden
- Strategies and tools to help edible gardens adapt to the changing climate
- Techniques for supporting soil health
This in-person class will feature an interactive lecture with slide show, a garden tour, and time for questions and answers with the instructor. The session is limited to about 15 people – all participants will receive a detailed outline with recommended resources for continued learning.
