Description
Now that the school garden is planted, it’s time to prepare to cook the harvest with your students! Our instructors will take you on a guided tour of our theme gardens, building off of the optional prior workshop “Planning a School Garden: Spring & Summer Themes.” We will harvest seasonal spring crops and prepare two recipes, demonstrating hands-on cooking techniques to use with students as young as 5 years old.
In this workshop, we will:
- Tour the Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands Children’s Garden theme beds
- Practice safe and age-appropriate cooking techniques to use with students
- Prepare and enjoy two recipes: spring vegetable dumplings and rhubarb compote
These workshops are designed for teachers, parents and community members – anyone who is interested in children’s and youth gardening. All are encouraged to engage in these lively learning sessions!
Clock Hours
Teachers are eligible for two (2) clock hours which are included in the cost of the workshop. Tilth Alliance is a WA OSPI-approved clock hour provider.
