Fermented foods can help the body absorb more nutrients, support the immune system and add homemade flair to your everyday meals. Join us for an engaging day-long, 4-hour workshop where you’ll learn how easy it is to make your meals more delicious, nutritious and unique with homemade fermented foods!
Topics in this class include:
- Understanding microbiology basics and how microbes transform raw foods into probiotic superfoods
- An exploration of the spectrum of fermented foods, including veggies, dairy, beverages and vinegars
- Materials and supplies that can be helpful to ferment at home
Activities in this class include:
- Seeing, smelling and tasting a few fermented foods and reviewing their cultural heritage
- Starting two fermentation projects to take home
- Demonstration of continued care for your fermenting products
Class will take place on Saturday, February 21st from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and will include a half hour break for lunch. This workshop will be held indoors with a combination of conversational lecture, show-and-tell, taste testing, and hands-on activities.
Class size is limited to about 15 people and we will be following current public health recommendations. Cost of class includes supplies – you will take two samples home.
