Have you ever wanted to make your own probiotic sodas, teas, or other non-alcoholic beverages? Learn how to harness the power of microbes to make delicious and nutritious drinks to stay hydrated and healthy. Fermented beverages can help your body absorb more nutrients, support your immune system and they are easy to make!

In this class we will:

  • Learn the basics of fermentation and how microbiology enhances the nutrition and flavor of some of our favorite drinks
  • Survey the spectrum of fermented beverages including shrubs, kombucha, ginger beer, and vinegar
  • Discuss ways to incorporate fresh local ingredients like herbs and fruits
  • See, smell and taste some of these drinks and review their health benefits
  • Start a brew for you to take home and ferment

This in-person class is limited to about 15 people and will take place indoors with a combination of hands-on activities, conversational lecture and some taste testing. Cost of class includes supplies – you will take a small sample home.
