School gardens are a great place to help students understand how they can conserve and protect water. Even though we live in a climate that has a lot of rain, our summers are very dry and have recently become longer and hotter. Our climate is changing and so should our gardening methods. This workshop will:
- Describe water conservation & protection methods and drought-tolerant styles of gardening
- Provide examples of lessons that Tilth Alliance uses at our garden locations.
- Share examples of rain gardens at schools in King County
- Teachers will have time to make connections with their unique school garden or outdoor learning spaces
Teachers in Seattle and south King County who attend are eligible to receive a $50 stipend. Teachers are also able to receive 1.5 clock hours. This workshop is free to attend. Thank you to the King County WaterWorks grant for their generous support.
