Description

Learn how to create rich compost using food scraps and yard waste during this in-person class. Compost is fundamental to organic vegetable gardening and will improve and enliven any type of garden soil. Making compost at home can also save you money and reduce the carbon footprint of your garden.

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn fundamentals about what compost is and how to use in new and existing gardens
  • Take a tour of various compost systems available so you can discover which are right for you
  • Discuss yard waste compost versus food waste compost
  • Look inside a worm bin and explore how to build a hot compost pile

This in-person session will take place outdoors and will include lecture, discussion, and a compost system tour. Class size is limited to about 15 people, and we will be following current public health recommendations. Please plan to dress for the weather.

*There are two sessions of this class. This page is for registration in South Seattle – you can register for the North Seattle class which is on November 4 here.
