SUMMARY:Restoration Celebration: Seattle Forest Week Event
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands for a celebration rooted in community to help kick off Seattle Forest Week! You can help with plantings led by the Rainier Beach Youth Stewards\, make nature crafts and salve\, and try out the apple cider press. There will be food to enjoy\, and you can take home a free plant. Don’t miss the scavenger hunt! \nVolunteer\nWant to help make the day happen? We’d love to have you! You can pitch in with set up\, lend a hand wherever it’s needed\, run the apple cider press or help with clean up at the end. No experience needed. Sign up to volunteer here. \nWhat is Seattle Forest Week?\nAs the Green Seattle Partnership expanded its reach\, a single day was no longer sufficient to kick off the planting season; thus\, Seattle Forest Week was born. Seattle Forest Week is a celebration of the Urban Forest: This week’s events are great opportunities to join in on planting\, forest bathing\, bird & plant walks\, and helping shape what future participation can look like! \nWhat is Green Seattle Day?\nGreen Seattle Day began in 2005 to celebrate the dedication of Green Seattle Partnership volunteers and community groups working to restore and preserve our city’s greenspaces. Green Seattle Day now marks the first day of Seattle Forest Week activities.

SUMMARY:Tilth Conference
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Tilth Conference will bring together hundreds of farmers\, organizations\, food system activists\, researchers and educators to learn\, work and play in Bellingham\, Washington on November 16\, 17 and 18. Tilth Alliance works to create and support a sustainable\, healthy\, and equitable food system. \nDigging into Ag Viability: Furthering Understanding and Fostering Collective Action\nThis year the Tilth Conference will be devoted to exploring the complex dynamics of operating a small\, family-owned farm in Washington.  Through sharing stories and perspectives\, and engaging in deep reflection and dialogue\, we hope to get at the roots of the viability challenge.  Let’s use this valuable time together to explore how we might bring multiple interests together to form a powerful collective voice that can speak out in support of our farms and the growers and workers that rely on them for their livelihoods.
