Stephanie Payne, Natural Resource Conservation Service’s (NRCS) Oregon Urban Conservationist, works directly with urban producers in the Portland metro area, providing technical and financial assistance through USDA Farm Bill programs. Stephanie has been a conservation planner with NRCS for the last 6 years, most recently working in Central Oregon as the NRCS Small Farm and Organic Specialist. In her current role, she works with urban farmers to address issues of soil contamination, installation of rainwater harvest catchments systems, and implementing season extension practices, furthering conservation efforts on urban working lands.
