Kate Tynan

The Northwest Horticultural Council represents the growers, packers, and shippers of apples, pears, and cherries in Washington, Oregon and Idaho on federal policy and regulatory issues (as well as international trade). Kate works on a wide range of issues, including food safety and organic policy. She is the lead staff for the NHC’s Food Safety Committee and Center for Produce Safety Subcommittee, serves on the International Fresh Produce Association’s Food Safety Council and the Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance’s Horticulture working group (which develops the group’s recommendations regarding organic policy), and is the chair of the Alliance for Food and Farming.
