Frank Morton

Frank Morton has been “Biological farming in the Pacific Northwest” (the original Tilth Journal subtitle) for 44 years. For 18 years he and his wife, Karen, grew specialty salad greens for restaurants on the East and West coasts. For 30 years they have operated Wild Garden Seed from Philomath, OR, growing organic seed for many of the seed companies that supply organic farmers and gardeners, as well as their own website and catalog. Though known as a seed grower and breeder, Frank’s other interests include farm ecology, and soil management that focuses on minimal disturbance. He has been working toward a method of reduced inputs and minimal soil profile disruption in a seed growing system since 2018. He believes that weeds are blessing, and is happy to debate the proposition.
